Chitralee
Goswami,the
Pearl of Melodies, is a leading female vocalist of
India. She is an acclaimed stage performer & a
vocalist of National Radio and Television.
Encouraged at early childhood by her Late parents,
Prabhat Narayan Goswami and Biva Goswami, Chitralee
was exposed to lot of folk music (lok geets),
bhajans, Ravindra Sangeet as well as Borgeet
propagated by Srimanta Shankardev & Sri Madhav dev
the Vaishnavite saints of Assam which she started
performing right from the age of 8. She received
talim for advanced khayal & Ghazal gayaki from
Internationally renowned Music Director & Common
Wealth Award winner Guru Pandit Rakesh Kumar Sharma
of New Delhi who inducted her into his gharana which
showcased Jwels like legendary Pandit Bhagvat
Kishorejee, Acharya Vrihaspatijee and others. At her
teens, while she continued performing great lyrics
and music of her soil, she received training in
Hindusthani classical music from former Station
Director of then All India Radio Guru Late Birendra
Kumar Phukan, National awardee Late Gunada Das Kaur
and renowned vocalist Pushpa Ranjan Dey. She began
as a trained classical performing artist and later
found herself more attached to semi classical and
light classical forms of Hindusthani as well as
Karnatic classical music such as Thumri, Dadra,
Tappa, Kajri, Ghazal, Sufi, Bhajan, Rag Pradhan &
Keerthanas.
